Directions to MPCDF

By car

Take Autobahn A9 from Munich, direction Nürnberg / Airport, and leave at exit 70 Garching Nord. Follow the signs leading to Forschungsinstitute. Then proceed as directed in section MPCDF below.

By train

Trains to Munich usually stop at Munich Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). From there, please take underground U4 (direction Arabellapark) or U5 (direction Neuperlach) to station Odeonsplatz. Change to underground U6 and get off at the last stop Garching Forschungszentrum (research campus). Exit at the rear of the train. Then proceed as directed in section MPCDF below.

By plane

Taxis are located just outside the terminals (ground level); costs are about 30-50 €; duration depends on traffic and ranges from 15 to 30 minutes.

If you travel by public transport, either take the suburban train S1 to Neufahrn and change to bus 690 to Garching Forschungszentrum; or take the suburban train S8 to Ismaning and change to bus 230 to Garching Forschungszentrum. Get off at the last stop. Then proceed as directed in section MPCDF below.

From Garching

Garching research campus is connected to Garching by underground and by bus. Please check the Munich public transport MVV website to get the most convenient connection to Garching Forschungszentrum.

The walking distance from Garching city centre to the Garching research campus is 30 minutes (see Google map). Then proceed as directed in section MPCDF below.

MPCDF

The MPCDF needs to be entered via a security barrier (see "Pforte IPP" on map below), next to the bus stop and the south exit of the underground.

Please indicate to the gatekeepers that you are visiting the MPCDF. Then follow the Isarstraße straight ahead to building D2, where MPCDF is located.
